Welcome to Bear Branch Elementary!

We know that starting a new school can be overwhelming, so we've put together some information to help. You can call the front office if you have any questions (but keep in mind, it's pretty chaotic in the mornings and during dismissal).

The building opens at 7:30 am for students who are involved in extra-curricular clubs or have set up a meeting in advance with their teacher. Students may enter the building at 7:45 am and will be directed to the gym for assembly. The bell rings at 8:15 for students to be in their classroom. If a student arrives after the 8:20 am tardy bell, then they will need to get a tardy slip from the front office before going to their classroom. School is dismissed at 3:25 pm and students can either be dismissed to car line, bus, walkers, or multiple third party after-school care services. If you need to make a transportation change, please call the front office before 2:45. You can also send a note in to the teacher and that will be sent to the front office.


Before school and after school programs are available. Drop off at the cafeteria is available in the mornings for a nominal fee. Please check the website for more information for After School Adventures at http://www.magnoliaisd.org.

If you need to check your child out, stop by the front office. If you pick up your child after 10 am, it is not considered an absence, though the student will be required to make up work that is missed. The administration requests that if you take your child to a medical appointment, send a doctor's note upon their return. Providing a doctor's note helps the school with state required attendance standards which helps with school funding. The same request for a doctor's note (if applicable) applies when a student is absent.


The students can bring a lunch from home or buy one at school. The menu and price are posted on the Magnolia ISD website. You are welcome to join your student(s) in the cafeteria at the tables against the wall, but you must register at the front office when you arrive. Your child's teacher can tell you what time your student is at lunch. You are not allowed to bring food for students other than your own without providing permission to the front office.


You can monitor absences, tardies, and grades for your student(s) at hac.magnoliaisd.org. This is a great resource but keep in mind that kindergarten and First grade do not follow the same grading process as the older grades. The BBE website listed above explains the K & 1 grading structure.
